Fort St. George
Fort St. George, named after the patron saint of England, St. George, is associated with supremacy of British in India and development of a remote fishing hamlet into a modern metropolitan. Started on 23rd April 1640 AD, it features the Clive House, the residence of Lord Robert Clive; the tallest flagstaff in India; British Regiment Mess and later the Lighthouse; St. Mary's Church and Fort Museum.

Kapaleeshwar Temple
The Kapaleeshwar Temple is one of the famous Chennai Tourist Attractions. Constructed in the 13th century AD, the temple is a classical example of the Dravidian Temple Architecture. The temple is located in the Maylapore area of Chennai surrounded by the local tank market and residential quarters. The main entrance is facing the east and is painted in bright colors of red, blue and yellow. The Puranic gods and goddesses and legends associate with them are engraved on the walls of the sanctum sanctorum.

Marina Beach
Marina Beach is the most popular beach of Chennai and one of the major Chennai Tourist Attractions. Extending from Fort St. George to Mahabalipuram, the 13 km stretch of the beach makes it the longest beach in whole of Asia. The beach looks colorful with lots of people all around especially on the weekends.

National Art Gallery
Built in 1906 AD, the National Art Gallery is situated in a fascinating building with Indo-Saracenic architectural features. Initially known as Victoria Memorial Hall, the building was designed by Henry Irwin. On display are the rich collection of paintings and sculptures including Tanjore Paintings on Glass; Rajput and Mughal Miniature Paintings; Deccan Paintings of the 17th century AD and handcrafts, metal ware and ivory carvings from 11th and 12th century AD. National Art Gallery is an important Chennai Tourist Attractions for those interested in paintings.

Parthsarthy Temple
The Parthsarthy Temple is another Chennai Tourist Attractions. Built in the 8th century AD under the patronage of the Pallava kings of South India, the temple was later renovated by the Vijayanagar kings in the 16th century AD. The temple is renowned for its Dravidian architectural style as well as the splendor of the gopuram. The temple is situated near Triplicane, which was one of the major harbors during the time of the Pallavas.

Santhome Cathedral
One of the important Chennai Tourist Attractions, Santhome Cathedral is one of the most venerated shrines of the Christians in Chennai. The Cathedral is built over the Tomb of St. Thomas. According to legends, St. Thomas came to India from Palestine in AD 52 and died here after 26 year. The church was built almost after thousand years and the remains of the saint were moved inside. The church was renovated in 1606 AD and elevated to a cathedral and to a basilica in 1806 AD.
